At St. Francis de Sales we offer SWAP (Student Wellbeing Arts Program) as a specialist area.
Wellbeing is embedded throughout the curriculum here at St Francis de Sales. Student Wellbeing and Drama are further supported through the specialist program at our school.
The students develop personal and social capability as they learn to understand themselves and others, and manage their relationships, lives, work and learning more effectively. They develop confidence in performances and voice projection as well as working cooperatively with others, when creating role plays and participating in games and learning experiences.
The capability involves students in a range of practices including recognising and regulating emotions, developing empathy for others and understanding relationships, establishing and building positive relationships, making responsible decisions, working effectively in teams, handling challenging situations constructively and developing leadership skills.
Students are involved in activities based on our school values and how we can live them out. They explore the Respectful Relationships curriculum and the topics of emotional literacy, personal strengths, positive coping, problem solving, stress management, help seeking, gender and identity and positive gender relationships. The lessons also incorporate the key areas of the Resilience Project which are Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy.
Students are involved in a school production biannually involving dance, drama and music.
