Integrated Curriculum

Victorian Curriculum V2 in Humanties, Science and Health are the focus for learning. Knowledge and skills are developed using an inquiry approach. Rich provocations and thinking tools are used to depth students thinking and understanding through out the investigation. Students are supported to investigate their own questions of interests about the changing world we live in. They apply critical and creative thinking skills to evaluate processes and findings, and to justify investigation conclusions, proposals and solutions. Students evaluate different points of view and form evidence-based arguments about contemporary local, national and global issues. They are provided opportunities to work both individually and in teams. On-going reflection and teacher feedback supports the refinement of learning. 

Students experience a sense of community and collaboration that values their interests, backgrounds, stories and needs. We empower students to have agency and make a difference in the world to become responsible and active citizens.

Humanties

The Humanities includes Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, Geography and History. The Humanities provide a framework for students to examine the human-related systems and processes that have shaped the world. Through the Humanities, students investigate people’s interconnections with society, groups and other individuals and with built and natural environments.

Science

The Science curriculum allows students to be curious and make sense of the world. They explore the unknown, investigate universal phenomena, make predictions and solve problems. Scientific knowledge is revised, refined and extended as new evidence arises and in response to peer review. The science curriculum provides opportunities for students to experience the wonder of understanding the world scientifically. It enables students to develop an understanding of key science concepts and processes, the inquiry practices used to acquire and develop scientific knowledge, science’s contribution to our cultures and society, and applications of science in our lives. Science comprises 3 interrelated strands: Science as a Human Endeavour; Science Understanding; Science Inquiry. Science understanding has the following sub-strands: Biological sciences; Chemical sciences; Earth and space sciences and Physical sciences

Health

The Health curriculum is essential to improving and maintaining the health, safety and well being of all children. Students develop skills and positive attitudes that influence their social and emotional health. It promotes and encourages children to make choices that will foster a safe and healthy lifestyle. Health Education encourages informed decision making. Students learn to access and evaluate health information in order to enhance their own and others’ health and wellbeing.
