We implement a highly innovative approach to teaching and learning Italian called Teachers As Co-Learners (TCL).

The design and content of the TCL approach provides frequent exposure to language classes in order for students to experience success with their learning.
All students have 15-minute sessions with their classroom teacher 4 times a week. Students learn language targeted at maximising classroom interactions and communication.

Teachers are co-learners with their students, modelling risk taking and lifelong learning as they use the classroom activities to deliver the program.

Many students take their learning home and enjoy teaching their parents and siblings the language they have learnt. At St Francis de Sales we foster the active participation of the whole school
community in language learning.
ELLA is a digital, play-based language learning program which includes a series of interactive applications, aimed at making learning engaging and interesting to young children. Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 students participate in the Early Learning Languages Australia Program (ELLA).
