St. Francis de Sales holds the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of Catholic Education. In response to Legislative requirements within the State of Victoria, including the specific requirements of the Victorian Child Safe Standards as set out in Ministerial Order No. 870, St. Francis de Sales has been reviewing, updating and developing policies and procedures to ensure that the quality of our care is maintained and where appropriate is improved.
St. Francis de Sales in partnership with families, will ensure children are engaged and active participants in decision-making processes, particularly those that have an impact on their safety. This means that the views of staff, children, young people and families are valued and taken seriously and that concerns are addressed in a prompt manner. Children are also provided with the necessary skills and knowledge to understand and maintain their personal safety and wellbeing.
Creating child-safe school environments is a dynamic process that involves active participation and responsibility by schools, families and their communities.
All families are required to commit to our St. Francis de Sales Safeguarding Children and Young People Code of Conduct. This document needs to signed and returned to the school on enrolment.
